Our Initiatives
PUBLIC POLICY
The Chapter keeps abreast of issues and activities affecting the African-American community and identifies community projects in which to participate or support. In addition, Chapter members serve on community boards and committees such as the Anne Arundel Community College Board on Diversity and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dinner and Breakfast Committee.
HEALTH
The Chapter hosts health seminars and other activities to highlight issues that impact the physical and mental well-being of African-American women.
EDUCATION
The Chapter sponsors an Annual Youth Awards program to recognize scholastic achievement, community service and leadership. The Chapter awards three scholarships per year to deserving graduating seniors and assists an adult who is returning to college.
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
The Chapter delivers programs of financial literacy and wealth building strategies. This committee sponsors the "My Sister's Keeper" Economic Empowerment Summit which provides presentations and discussions that informs, inspires and uplifts women of all ages.
MEMBERSHIP
​The Chapter seeks to build the membership through active recruitment of professional African-American women who are dedicated to advocacy of issues pertinent to women and girls of color.
